What kind of art do you Make?

I currently work almost exclusively with a gel plate - a reusable, gelatin and polymer soft and flexible surface that’s used for monoprinting—a form of printmaking where each print is unique.

It’s smooth, squishy, and slightly tacky, which makes it perfect for picking up layers of paint, texture, and pattern. You roll paint onto it with a brayer, add stencils, marks, or objects, and then press paper onto the surface to pull a print.

I am also a painter.

What is fascism?

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian political ideology and system of government characterized by dictatorial power, extreme nationalism, suppression of opposition, and often a belief in racial or cultural superiority.

At its core, fascism seeks to concentrate power in a single leader or ruling party, dismantle democratic institutions, and control many aspects of life—including the media, education, the arts, and even personal expression. It thrives on propaganda, scapegoating, and the use of fear to divide and control people.

Key traits of fascism include:

• Authoritarianism: Strong centralized power, often in a single leader (“the strongman”)

• Ultra-nationalism: Obsessive focus on national purity, identity, or greatness

• Suppression of dissent: Silencing of journalists, activists, artists, unions, and opposition parties

• Militarism: Glorification of violence and the military, often with paramilitary groups or policing of citizens

• Control of culture: Censorship of art, books, education, and free expression; promoting only state-approved ideas

• Scapegoating: Blaming marginalized groups (immigrants, LGBTQ+ people, racial or religious minorities) for society’s problems

• Disdain for human rights: Policies that violate civil liberties, dehumanize groups, or encourage surveillance and punishment

Fascism often begins subtly, cloaked in populist language, promises of order, or appeals to tradition—and can escalate quickly if left unchecked.
